Haitian Adoptions Need to Be Delayed, Not Hurried

Probably before the year's end my wife and I will travel to Ethiopia to adopt a 2-4 year old girl.  Adoption is an imperfect answer to a horrible situation.  Every child should be able to grow up with the family they were born to in the culture to which they were born.  Unfortunately, this is not an option for too many children.  As we go through this process we are already sad that our daughter will not grow up in the land of her birth. We have wrestled with this decision for several years, and while we feel it is the right decision, we make it with heavy hearts that this decision needs to be made at all.

In following the story of children in Haiti who have been orphaned, I came across this blog entry.  The author writes many things which need to be said and considered.
